Otis Klöber is the founder and Principal Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra
of Europe. Admired for his meticulous preparation and highly professional approach,
Otis Klöber is also a regular guest conductor with leading orchestras in Germany, Norway,
the Netherlands, Belgium, Finland, Poland, the Czech Republic and Japan. In recent programs
he conducts a wide variety of repertoire with orchestras including the Staatsorchester Rheinische
Philharmonie, the Hamamatsu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra, the Russian Chamberphilharmonic St. Petersburg and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Europe. He will return also to the
Netherlands with the Russian Chamberphilharmonic St. Petersburg.
Besides programs with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Europe, recent and forthcoming highlights include debuts and return engagements in Asia with such orchestras as the Hamamatsu Philharmonic Orchestra of Japan and in 2024 he will intensively tour the excellent concert halls in China. Programs in Europe include collaborations with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra, the Russian Chamberphilharmonic St. Petersburg, the Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra Lodz, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra in Norway.

His repertoire spans from Mozart and Beethoven to Brahms, Dvorak and Wagner, from Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Stravinsky, to Andriessen, Mishory, Rihm and Gubaidulina.
Otis Klöber has worked with such artists as Vladimir Ashkenazy, Andreas Frölich, Klara Würtz, Sergey Dogadin, Liza Ferschtman, Uta Kunert, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Peter Bruns, Ramón Jaffé, Fine Arts Quartet, Mendelssohn Trio Berlin, Dimension Trio London, Stefan Schilli, Dimitri Ashkenazy,
Emily Beynon, Tine Thing Helseth and Radovan Vlatkovic, just to name a few.
Otis Klöber has a number of recordings to his credit and has recorded for Naxos, Pan Classics, VMS, LTE-Records, Brilliant Classics and Berlin Classics. In live-recordings with the Deutsch-Niederländische KammerPhilharmonie he has recorded music by Mozart and with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Europe works by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven and Brahms for the orchestras own label POE Live Classics.
Born into a musical family where he started singing, bassoon and piano lessons at an early age, he has studied bassoon with Klaus Thunemann in Hanover and Berlin. He not only has made his mark as principal bassoonist of the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Jaap van Zweden before the latter was appointed principal conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, but also has established himself as a guest solo bassoonist with major European orchestras such as London Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and others, working with great conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Georg Solti, Valery Gergiev, Semyon Bychkov, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Lorin Maazel, but also primarily as chamber musician at the highest level before pursuing a successful career as conductor.
In 2010 he made the decision to give up his bassoon career and dedicate himself solely to conducting.
He subsequently studied conducting and was invited to follow masterclasses with Salvador Mas Conde (Vienna Master Courses), Jorma Panula, Kurt Masur and Bernard Haitink. He has emerged as one of conducting’s outstanding talents and took up posts with the Deutsch-Niederländische KammerPhilharmonie (Principal Conductor), and sinds 2012 the Philharmonic Orchestra of Europe (Principal Conductor and Artistic Director).
Otis Klöber`s international conducting-career and prior his chambermusic-activities brought him to such venues as the Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ Amsterdam, Tonhalle Zürich, Izumi Hall Osaka, Hamamatsu Concerthall in Japan, Royal Festival Hall London, Vienna Konzerthaus, Berlin Philharmonie, Luxor Rotterdam, Amsterdam Concertgebouw as well as to renowned festivals including the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Charlemagne Music Festival, Summerwinds, Rheingau Music Festival, Biennale di Venezia, Vienna Modern and the Lucerne Festival.
